In 2014, I was one of three high school theology teachers hired by Saint Mary’s Press to blaze a new trail in digital publishing. Not only did we create an eLearning course, we also developed what is now called the Saint Mary’s Press eLearning platform (cf. Captivate, Articulate 360) with the assistance of a digital consulting firm. We named the course “Understanding Catholicism.” Saint Mary’s Press launched it in 2016.
This particular eLearning course is an interactive introduction to the Catholic faith and the first of its kind in Catholic publishing. It is geared toward students in grades 9-10. I assumed the roles of eLearning/content developer and editor to bring it to fruition: writing the curriculum, editing scripts for embedded videos, searching for impactful images, applying the try-teach method, chunking content, and discovery.
