I’ve been painting on and off over the last several years, often going through long stretches without picking up a paint brush. I’m hoping to change that.

I’ve attended several workshops taught by consummate painters of varying techniques, but am largely self-taught. Mostly, I learn from my mistakes and by creating a lot of bad paintings. Sometimes, I just put the paint on the canvas and see where it takes me.

I gravitate toward capturing the play of light on a subject, the chiaroscuro —especially in nature— and the sense of mystery it creates.
